Hi,
I know that it has to be one of a few things. You are either 1) far too independent, 2) hate interacting with people you don't know, or, 3) you have a (not-so-)secret(-anymore) desire to be a cashier at a grocery store. It has to be one of the three. That is the only way to explain why you are taking your loaded grocery cart to the self-scanner quiosks to scan your own groceries into 16 shopping bags. You annoy me. When you have to fill up more bags than the allotted spaces for said bags, or when you have more than a handful of items, or when you need a shopping cart to carry your selection, or your total purchase is more than $20, or you need to buy something that requires you show your id, you should not be scanning the items yourself. You should leave them open to those of us who can quickly get in and out. We're used to the technology, so we won't need the staff to swipe their pass card to override dumb mistakes.
Here are your solutions:
1. Learn to depend on people more. They might actually be friendly. (Refer back to my "Faith in Humanity Restored" story from last year.)
2. Get out more often. People might actually be friendly. (Refer back to my "Faith in Humanity Restored" story from last year.)
3. If being a cashier is on your bucket list or you have a romanticized view of a job like that, then make that your job choice. Don't live it out during rush hour, or when there's a lot of people behind you. If you really must keep your current job and can't become a cashier, then go to the store between 10 pm and 6 am, when there are not so many people there.
Thank you.
from, Jonathan.
